Build a WhatsApp Agent With No Code: Answer Customers on Your Own Number (2026)

Customer questions reach you all day on WhatsApp. What are your opening hours? Is the order shipped? Your replies can arrive late, and replies from different people can disagree. A no-code WhatsApp agent takes the first pass. It answers the questions it can answer from what you wrote, on the number you already use, and in rare cases it hands the chat to your team when it reaches something it should not decide.

What does a no-code WhatsApp agent do on your own number?

A no-code WhatsApp agent is an assistant you configure in plain words. It reads an incoming customer message on your number, answers from the instructions you wrote, and passes the chat to a person when it hits a limit. You do not write code or wire up an API. You describe what the agent is for.

Blueticks describes the setup the same way. You describe the agent in plain words, then watch it answer on your own number. The instructions are the product. A vague description gives vague replies, so most of this guide is about what to put in them.

  • Your number: the WhatsApp account customers already message.
  • Your instructions: the plain-words brief that defines every reply.
  • Handoff: the point where a person takes over.

What do you need before the first agent runs?

You need a WhatsApp number your customers already use, a Blueticks account, and a plan that matches how you work. The Basic and Standard plans run in your browser. Pro runs in the cloud and keeps answering when your laptop is closed.

Prices are per user per month when you pay yearly ($84, $240, and $540 a year). Monthly billing costs more; the pricing page shows both.

Use the number your customers already message. The agent answers on the account you link. If you link it on Basic and close the browser at night, the agent goes quiet overnight. Pick the plan before you rely on the agent.

If you also want to manage the account from Claude, note that Claude's custom connectors allow one connector on the Free plan. That is a separate setup from the agent, and you do not need it to build one.

How do you describe the agent in plain words?

Write the agent's job the way you would brief a new hire. Say who it speaks for, what it can answer, what it must not promise, and when it stops. A few short paragraphs is enough. The clearer the edges, the fewer replies you will have to correct later.

plain words index card

  1. Name the business and the one job. For example, "Answer questions about opening hours, the price list below, and how to book a slot."
  2. Put the facts in the text. Write exact prices, hours, and addresses. If the answer is not in your text, tell the agent to say it will check.
  3. Write the limits. No discounts, refunds, or delivery dates unless your text names them.
  4. Write the handoff line. For example, "If the customer asks for anything outside this list, say you will pass it to the team."
  5. Re-read the instructions. Check that each reply follows the brief you wrote.

Here is a generic example for a fictional bakery. Replace the facts with yours.

You answer WhatsApp questions for Corner Loaf Bakery. Use only the facts below. Opening hours are 7:00 to 15:00, Monday to Saturday. A sourdough loaf costs the price on the list. You do not offer discounts or promise delivery dates. If a customer asks for anything not in this list, say you will pass it to the team.

The homepage lists recurring follow-ups as a feature, so a scheduled check-in is a valid use.

How do you test it before a real customer does?

Test on a second phone that is not your customer-facing number. Send the questions a real customer would ask, including one the agent should not answer. Compare each reply against your text, line by line. Only turn the agent on for everyone after the replies hold up across the whole list.

second phone test

  1. Test on a second phone. Send the agent a few real questions from it.
  2. Send three questions. One it should answer from your text. One with an answer you did not write down. One outside the list.
  3. Check each reply against the instructions. Any detail that is not in your text is a gap. Add it, or add a rule that stops the agent from guessing.
  4. Go live only after all three behave.

Failure mode: a test that only passes once. A single good reply proves little. Run the same three questions again the next morning, then once more after a week of edits.

When does the agent hand the chat to a person?

In rare cases the agent hands the chat to your team. The Blueticks homepage describes that handoff.

handoff desk phone

  1. Keep your handoff line in the instructions. It covers the cases you can predict.
  2. Watch for handoffs. A handoff you never see is worse than no agent at all.
  3. Review every handoff for a week. Note which ones were right, which ones were missed, and which ones were false alarms.

Failure mode: missed handoffs. If you miss a handoff, the customer waits and you do not know why. Check the chats during the hours you are actually reachable.

Which plan keeps the agent running when your computer is off?

Pro is the only plan with 24/7 cloud sending. It costs $45 per user per month billed yearly ($540 a year). Basic and Standard run in your browser. For daytime questions, Standard can be enough. For overnight and weekend replies, you need Pro.

Describe your first agent and send it one test question from a second phone. Start at blueticks.co. Your own number, plain-words instructions, and a handoff you control.

Failure mode: buying the wrong plan for the hours you need. Work out when customers actually write before you pick. If most questions arrive between 9 PM and 7 AM, a browser plan leaves those messages waiting until morning.

How do you keep the agent from making promises you did not authorise?

Put the limits in the instructions, and keep money terms out of the agent's reach. Tell it never to quote a discount, confirm a refund, or commit to a delivery date unless your text names that exact term. Review its replies for a week.

  1. List the terms it must not touch. Discounts, refunds, deposits, delivery dates, and anything legal.
  2. Make the handoff line the default. When in doubt, the agent says it will pass the question to the team.
  3. Re-check after every price or hours change. Old facts in the text can produce wrong answers.

FAQ

Do I need to write code to build a WhatsApp agent?

No. You describe the agent in plain words in the Blueticks app, then test it from a second phone. The setup has two steps: describe it, then watch it answer.

Will the agent answer on my personal number?

It answers on the number you link to your Blueticks account. Use the number your customers already message, and test it from a different phone first.

Is there a free plan?

The pricing page mentions a free plan with no time limit. The page does not spell out the free-plan limits, so check the current terms there before you rely on it for a busy number.

Does the agent work when my laptop is closed?

Only on Pro. Pro runs in the cloud and keeps sending with your laptop closed. Basic and Standard run in your browser.
